Lots of folks who come to our Wears Valley zip lines hope to spot some native wildlife, but black bears aren’t the only creatures you’ll find in this neck of the woods. In fact, thanks to some unique attractions in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, you can see not just our local brand of beasts but all kinds of animals from the world. From feathers to fins, here are some of the must-sees:
• Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies – For more than 10 years, this multimillion-dollar attraction in downtown Gatlinburg has been fascinating patrons of all ages with hundreds of species of underwater creatures that hail from oceans all over the planet. Highlights include an underwater tunnel through Shark Lagoon.
• Rainforest Adventures Discovery Zoo – You’ll find this unique animal habitat in Sevierville at the Governor’s Crossing development. Although it started out featuring insects, birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians from rainforest environments, it also now offers an exhibit devoted to the Australian Outback.
• Deer Farm Petting Zoo – Also in Sevierville, this fun petting zoo lets kids get up close to dozens of species of furry friends. Many you can even feed by hand.
• Parrot Mountain – This Pigeon Forge attraction is for the birds, but that’s a good thing. Get up-close looks at beautiful and colorful exotic birds from around the globe.
